Terrorfied Forest: Forest full of fear

Terrorfied Forest: Forest full of fear

Amazing. Let's just get that out of the way. This is a truly amazing house and forest combo. From the moment you get your tickets and turn around to face the manor, this place just feels special. Those taking the tickets are into it. The location gives off a creepy vibe, and the screams that come from deep in the trees add to it. This is one that is worth the drive from anywhere.

The Manor

This actually feels like a house. I know that statement feels ridiculous, but it is fitting for this. Anyone who has gone to a haunted house that claims to actually have a theme of a haunted house, will remember ending up in places like dungeons, or swamps, or other areas that are decidedly not something you will find in your house. This one is a house, from the upper level with various rooms that lead to a slide that takes you to the dark basement. The house creaks and has sounds you will hear from your own house, and it is unnerving. It is so nice to see a legit haunted house theme.

There are some great standout moments from this house. A hall with a Ouija board with an inhabitant on it waiting to play. With your eyes focused on the board, it comes as a shock when the lights go out, and the monster is now inches in front of you. Another scene is a girl in desperate need of an exorcist is in a bed that moves around the room. I've never seen that used before, and it is genuinely scary to have a queen bed barrel down on you out of nowhere.

The actors in this are great, and are having fun, getting scares, and then making snide comments about those walking by. There also seems to be quite a few throughout the house, and there is little dead space at all. This is just a really well designed house, and the only complain I have is that hopefully it can be a little longer somehow. Other than that this is a great start to the event.

The Forest

This is without a doubt, the highlight of the year so far. For over a half hour you wander the path through the trees, hitting well designed set after set. This has some well designed scares, that take advantage of the locations, and uses a variety of methods to keep things interesting throughout. From a floor that you roll across, to duel vortex tunnels spinning in opposite directions, this trail has it all.

The sets are great, and just by stepping into an area, you know exactly what the goal of the area is. Sections like a field of scarecrows, or an old west town, to a really demented fun house all manage to feel fresh and different from any other area on the trail. In between these sets is the path which winds through the forest, with red lights above being your only guide. These areas can also catch you off guard, because you never know if someone is out there, lurking to get you in these dark, quiet areas.

The actors are just incredible. Each one has taken to their location with obvious skill, being able to use them to their advantage to get great scares. What makes these actors stand out is the ability to improvise. We would end up having long conversations with them, and they kept in character the entire time, managing to be both creepy and entertaining at the same time. Every person along the path seemed really into their roles, and it all comes together to make a classic trail.

Overall

I don't want to go into too much detail with this one, because I feel like this is an event that needs to be experienced. This is a premiere experience in the state and it easily one of the best haunts I've visited. It is scary, hilarious, and just a fun time that is now one of my favorites I have ever done. Do this one.
